I Think Im Becoming A Slight Product Junkie...

So as we welcome the new year in 2011 there comes more hair goals! Since I started my hair journey in October toward the end of 2010 I feel like 2011 will be my year to see Tremendous GROWTH! Well on the other hand I'm noticing something as I browse the online forums and read magazines about hair care Anything that someone says works im in a rush to run out and grab it. But this is becomin a slight problem because im spending all this money on all these products that I dont have time to EVEN use them all. They"re just adding to my collection of hair products I already have! In the past couple of months I have purchased: Aphogee Damaged Hair Shampoo, Green Tea Reconstructor, Provitamin Leave In,Keratin 2 min Reconstructor,( Yeah I was riding the Aphogee bandwagon lol). Keracare 1st Lather ClaRIFYING Shampoo, Keracare Oil Sheen,Keracare Foam Wrap Lotion, and THE Keracare leave-in. I think Keracare might become my staple because they make my hair so soft and managable. There is no other Wrapping Lotion like keracare's it conditions your hair while making it shiny and bouncy. The only downside to keracare is its very expensive! One of my favorite protein coditions is Ors Replenishing Conditioner you can also purchase them in a pak. Ors strenghtens your hair at the same time leaving it moisturized.I recently bought the Silicon Mix Conditioner and I mix it with my Ors Conditioner just to get some extra shine sometimes. Sometimes I cowash and when I do i use herbal Essesence Long Term Relationships it smells so yummy!!!When I moisturize my hair I use the Hydrathermal naturals Moisturizing Growth Lotion Let me just say this is one of the best water based moisturizing lotions I ever have used.I def will be purchasing a new bottle when I run out. Some oils that I purchased is Jojoba oil, peppermint oil, extra virgin coconut and olive oil, and Jamaican Black Castor Oil. I mix them in my conditioner for extra moisture and they also help to soften new growth. I like to apply castor oil on my scalp a couple times a week because it helps thicken up the hair. I purchased a Babybliss Blowdryer and a IONIC tourmalin flatiron a 5/8 inch and a 1 inch flatiron. Lastly For THe SHampoos: I own Hydrathermal Naturals Moisture Boosting Shampoo love this poo it contains Kelp and other Natural Oils, It infuses your hair with soooo much moisture without stripping your hair of its naturals oils. I also own Dove Intense Moisture this is a shampoo I was given and I must say that it works very well not my fav poo but it works! SOOOOOO Moral To the Story I have spent too much money on hair products I'm not buying anymore until I use up the ones I got! So in 2011 my hair goals are shoulder length hair and I want to def get some thickness as well as length. Right now my hair is growing past my ear length..bout time!!! LOl.. Im def goin to stay away from the shop because as you can see in my previous posts the hairstylist get tooo scissor happy! Happy New Year Everyone And God Bless..I will be posting results of my Next Wash Day...

Relaxer Results

So my relaxer came out perfect..I mean I dont think the pictures does it justice..really. My stylist used design essentials and I did not burn at all..he also based my scalp really well before he applied the relaxer even though i based my hair the night before with coconut oil. I love how he styled it but it he kinda chopped it up so it would stand up. The only bad thing was he cut my hair which pissed me off after I told him I didnt want my hair cut but i guess my ends are even now..so im pleased overrall. But i definetly learned my lesson no more trips to the shop unless i want to see my hair stay short. So without further due..here goes my progress..my hair has thicken up alot

Relaxer Prep!

So tommorrow i will be going to the shop for the first time in 2 months to get a relaxer because i just dont trust myself! I will insist that my stylist does not cut my hair only the edges MAYBE my sideburns cause they have gotten a little thick to get it in some sort of style. I will also be making sure that he only applies the relaxer to my new growth since i have been reading up on relaxer and learned you dont need to relaxed already relaxed hair..which i have been doing basically my whole life or when i couldnt go to the shop. So to prepare for my relaxer tommorow i will oil my scalp down with coconut oil and i will place oil on my hair and not my new growth because i wont the relaxer to straighten the new growth. I'm placing oil on my hair just because if relaxer accidently touches my hair it is well coated with oil making it harder to process. Well wish me luck guys i will definetly post pics of my hair tommorrow! I also just ordered some jamaican black castor oil..excited to try it out i've heard good things about it, when i start using it I will let you know what I think about it. Untill Next Time...

So i have been thinking.....

When I started my hair care journey I cut all my hair off because I wanted to be able to start all over brand new and I wanted a fresh start. And I realized something there's not really much out there online for short hair care. There's way more sites out there to take care of weaves then short hair! So I said you know I guess ill just have to go through trial and error to figure what works. I'm talking about there's a lack of short hair tutorials on youtube there's not many if any short hair discussion boards. To get long hair you had to start from somewhere right???? I dont know just a thought..everytime i tell someone i want to grow out my hair they tell me to use wigs to protect my hair or braids and I'm thinking arent these the same things that got me in this predicament to began with. So I realized im going to need A nice tall glass of PATIENCE to get where im going i still have another six months to really gain some length.

Wash Day

The night before i washed i prepooed with coconut oil. The coconut oil softened out my new growth alot. Then the next day I washed with hydrathermal naturals moisture boosting shampoo followed by aphogee 2 min reconstructor (bc i have been using alot of heat lately) you always follow up a reconstructer with a moistuizing deep conditioner and i used silicon mix under the dryer for 30 mins, then i applied keracare leave in conditioner and i wrapped my hair with keracare wrap lotion. I sat under the dryer for about 45 mins then i took the wrap strips off and wrapped my hair with a scarf overnight. The next morining i straighten my hair with my flat iron and apply ion hair wax to my edges to give it some structure since im not getting it cut so i need to have some sort of shape. I also applyed about a dime size of chi-silk infusion to give the hair a lightweight shine. Im realizing the longer i stretch my relaxer the more product i need to acheive the style i want. I think i might really relax my hair next week at 8 weeks post because its just so much easier to style..i dont know we'll see.. ill post pics on my next blog so you can see how i styled it

new product

Sooooo I tried silicone mix for the first time and my hair absolutely loved it forreal! It made my hair incredibly smooth and shiny just exactly what I was looking for. I mixed the silicone mix with ors replenishing conditioner for extra strength. I'm thinking about adding a prepoo to my regimen since I'm on my 7 week stretch and I know it'll only get tougher from there I'm trying to stretch to 10 weeks or maybe christmas..who knows! My regimen last Tuesday was I clarifyed for the first time this month with keracare sulfate free shampoo. ..followed with a deep conditioner under heat for 20 mins ors/silicone mix...wrapped my hair with keracare wrap lotion and flatiron it out. I moisturize and seal with hydrathermal naturals and coconut oil every night

My Hair Story

Hello, fellow bloggers I'm really new to all this blogging stuff. This is how it all began...First i had to cut all my beautiful hair off because it was damaged from years of braids, glued in weaves and not taking care of my hair properly! Then i had this day where i was thinking and i said to myself I'm tired of wearing weaves i want to grow my own black hair long! So i started on my journey and i decided to take you guys along for the ride..lol..So i called this blog Starting From Square One because thats exactly what i had to do..my hair was chopped all the way off and tapered at the back. Its been cut for a month now. My hair regiment from this point (which will probably change frequently bc i just started) Shampooing every 6-7 i first stated out with Aphogee for Damged hair Shampoo..now for the last two washed i have been using Hydrathermal Naturals Moisture Boosting Shampoo and I love it feels so good on my scalp! There was nothing wrong with Aphogee i just wanted more moisture in my Poo. Then after the shampoo i aplied the Aphogee Keratin 2 min reconstructor with and shower cap and i leave on for 5 mins. I followed the reconstructor with Organic Root Stimulater Replenishing Conditioner and I mix that with olive oil, coconut oil, and pepermint oil and i  leave it on for 20 mins with a plastic cap under a hooded dryer. I wash the conditioner out and i apply about quater size of chi silk infusion to my hair while its wet and i wrap my hair with keracare wrap lotion!!! i love keracarewrap lotion it conditions the har at the same time making it soft and manageble. I sit under a hooded ryer for about 30-40 sometimes i let it airdry overnight depending on how im feeling. I comb my hair out after its dry and i straighten my hair with chi flat iron and  wrap my hair back up with saran wrap i use a dime size of hydrathermal naturals mositurizing growth lotion whicch i looooooove it makes your hair so soft and it smells yummy too!!!! I sit under the dryer for about 10-15 mins then i comb out and i have a beautiful silky short wrap! Depending on how much heat i used the previous week sometimes i dont go back under the dryer for 10 mins ill just wrap my hair around and put a scarf on it and go to bed. Okay on another note i only used heat once a week on wash days only.
